Blue is a Hornby Premium mare, 
awarded for excellence of conformation, movement, temperament and breed type. She is one of the very finest mares in the breed.

Shown only four times as an adult, this mare was Supreme Champion Irish Draught at Three Counties Show and Champion Youngstock and reserve Supreme Champion Irish Draught at the IDHS(GB) National Show in '97, as a three year old. And as a four year old, before leaving Britain for USA in 1998, she placed second in an enormous broodmare class of over 20 entries and received Reserve Champion Irish Draught Mare at the IDHS(GB) National Show. She is one of the best moving Irish Draughts we have ever seen, having a particularly free shoulder and much suspension.

Blue is in foal to the wonderful Touch Of The Blues for '06 and this foal will be available!

Blue's sire, RAKISH PADDY, is an International grade "A" show jumper. He represented Ireland at the Salon Du Cheval in France.
 As well as being a talented jumper he has also done very well in the breed ring. At the Royal Dublin Show, Ireland's premier horse show, he was Champion Irish Draught stallion twice and reserve Champion on three further occasions. No mean feat in this hotly contested class!

Blue's dam is the legendary Roma Blue Wind, who needs no introduction in the Irish Draught world. This mare is a prodigious winner in the show ring, having won Supreme Champion at the National Irish Draught breed shows in both Ireland and Britain and the Irish Draught broodmare Championship at Royal Dublin Show twice. She is also a Hornby premium mare. Each of her five daughters, by different stallions, have been champions. Blue Wind's sire, BLUE HENRY,  competed very successfully in the dressage arena and was also a talented jumper. He is the sire of jumpers, eventers, dressage horses and some truly stunning show horses. Blue Wind's dam, Kiltowra Glee (Dolly to her friends!), was from a very rare bloodline through Windgap Hero. She was a fabulous producer in her own right, very successful in the show ring and a Hornby premium mare. She sadly passed away in '03 at the grand age of 30.

Blue combines the lines of Prince Henry, Young Arthur and Woodranger with many crosses to Comet. She has an enviable depth of pedigree with renowned breed type and movement coming from the top and bottom. Her babies tend somewhat to their sires but have, without fail, got their mom's outstanding movement, breed type and pretty face.

Bluey has the most delightful temperament, nothing worries her and she will turn herself inside-out to please, especially if there is a chance for a scratch under her forelock!  She is our alpha-mare but rules with a flick of an ear rather than with teeth and hooves. Like her granddam, Dolly, she is a "nuzzler" and will snuffle into your neck until it tickles!!

Blue would like to congratulate her Dad, Mom and sister for their wins at the prestigious Royal Dublin Show. Rakish Paddy was Champion Irish Draught stallion, her sister was Champion Irish Draught broodmare and her mom was Reserve Champion from the same class!!!
